First, let me start this out by saying that Glenn Beck may be right. Yes, I know, you wouldn’t have guessed that from the title! But, Glenn Beck may be right. Perhaps his definition of social justice, or even perhaps of church, is a little bit different than mine.
To me, however, social justice must be at the heart of who the church is, and everything that the church does. But, what is social justice? Social justice is feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, helping the sick, imprisoned, poor, and needy. Social justice means bringing hope to the hopeless, and giving help to the helpless.
I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong, but Jesus seemed to place a pretty high emphasis on these things (see the latter verses of Matthew 25).
Mr. Beck said that if the term “social justice” is mentioned at your church, on the website, etc. that you should immediately leave that church because, in his opinion, that church could be a socialist congregation (or even a communist congregation) somehow in cahoots with the government.
Or, perhaps, if social justice is mentioned at your church, it means that your leaders have actually read the Gospels, and are seeking to live out their lives in the image of their Lord Jesus.
I guess you’ll have to discern which is true.

What I'm praying this morning
While I sit at my desk this morning, with a cup of coffee, an open NLT Study Bible, and a yellow legal pad with scribbled notes for tomorrow morning's sermon on it, I'm praying about our worship services tomorrow.
When I first started pastoring, I remember praying: "Lord, give me a good crowd tomorrow! I hope (insert whatever number is a "good crowd" for you here) people show up!"
But, after a while of praying this, my heart began changing, molding, and desiring more than just a "good crowd."
What am I praying for this morning?
I'm praying that God would show how great His love, mercy, and grace is to all of us tomorrow. Perhaps we'll see a marriage reconciled, or someone who is grieving will receive comfort. Maybe we'll see someone who thought they would never be accepted by God realize that He loves them too, regardless of what they've done.
I'm praying that God would confront us with what it means to be living in His kingdom. Maybe someone will go buy groceries for a family that they know needs the help after church tomorrow. Maybe someone will go visit someone who is sick, or call someone who really just needs a friend.
I'm praying that God's Spirit will wake up our hearts to the realization that being part of His kingdom means that it's no longer about what we can get, but rather what we can give to others from what we've already received.
So, what are you praying for this morning?

Getting Serious with God
We've made it to Jonah 3. This Sunday at MCOG, we're going to be talking about "Getting Serious with God."
Studying for this, I was reminded of a video that K-LOVE posted on their blog the other day, so I want to share that with you today.
